When we got home from the hospital, my mom was all ready there when we got home. Chad left us there with Sophie and he went to our friends home to pick up Rylee. When Rylee got home, she was a little unsure of everything. Like who is this little thing taking over MY house? There was a period of time where she didn't even want to go near anyone who was holding Sophie. Trying to get Sophie's picture taken with her big sister was almost impossible. Now, though, they are the bestest of friends! How could Rylee be so unsure of this little angel, she's too cute to be ignored.
Rylee being a little curious about her new sister.....
My due date with Sophie was December 14, 2004....and she was born on that day. I was pretty sure she was going to be late. And if I wasn't induced, she would have been. I'm not too big on inducing, but if I can make it to my actual due date, then I don't see a problem with it! Besides, who knows how much longer she would have stayed in. Good gracious!
We didn't want to find out what we were having this time. We wanted it to be a surprise. It was so much fun and made the delivery that much more exciting. We dropped Rylee off on Monday night at our friends, the Hafen's, house. That night, Chad and I got everything else ready that we would need for the hospital. We had to be at the hospital at 5:00am because Dr. Krum said he had a c-section that morning too and so he made me promise that we wouldn't be late. So we were up at 4:00am bright and early. Which is why I look so wierd in this picture. We got to the hospital and the nurse helped me get everything ready. Well, we waited and waited and waited for Dr. Krum to show, and he never did. Ugh! Finally around 7:00am the nurse said she would try and give him a call. She came back and told me not to say anything, but apparently he forgot that he had to come in and break my water!!!! Again, ugh! Then around 7:30 he finally showed up. Thankfully he gave me my epidural before the pitocin. I was all ready dialated to a 5 when he came in. The rest went really quickly. The nurse was keeping an eye on the baby and me, because everytime I started having rough contractions, Sophie's heart rate would drop.
Everything seemsed to be okay, because around 11:30 am the nurse came in, checked me and said the the baby's head was started to come out! She called the doctor (hoping he'd get there in time) and around 11:40 I started pushing. Finally 2 pushes later, our second baby was born. The doctor exclaimed,"It's a girl!" and we were both thrilled. I think we always hoped it would be, just so Rylee would have a sister close to her age to play with and be with while growing up. Sophie was 7 lbs. 12 oz. and 20 inches long. We are so happy to have her in our lives now. We love you Sophie.
